Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribal Census FAQs
Who can participate in the tribal census?
The 2018 Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribal Census is open to all households within the Red Cliff Indian Reservation.
Why should I take this tribal census survey?
The Red Cliff Band leadership has recognized a need for true, accurate information about our tribal members and reservation residents. It is a necessary component of self-determination that we collect our own data about our own people, instead of relying on other sources to tell us about our people and our lands. Your responses are vital to helping the Red Cliff Band leadership understand the priorities, needs and situations of our members. The information from the census will be used to assist in program planning, determining new services to offer, prioritizing tribal resources, and bolstering grant applications. We also guarantee confidentiality of all responses.
Who will see my householdís answers?
The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribal Census is strictly confidential. None of your householdís answers will be linked to names or other identifying information. Once we have collected all the tribal census survey forms, we will remove all the identifying information from the database. All data and information from the tribal census will only be reported in aggregate; that is, we will only report on the information of groups, never individuals. All Red Cliff Band staff working on the tribal census are bound by confidentiality agreements, as is Big Water Consulting, the private consulting group based in Seattle, WA that has been hired to conduct the tribal census.
Is there compensation?
Once your household completes the survey, your household will receive $30 dollars in gift certificates.
How does my household complete the Census?
Members of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa have been hired by the Planning Department to administer the survey in person through home visits to every household on the reservation. If you are not home during a visit, we will try again at another time or a time can be scheduled for a future visit. The survey can also be taken online. Information about how to complete the survey online will be provided by the Census field staff.
I want to respond to the tribal census online, but I donít know my Survey Code to access the online option. What should I do?
You can contact the Census Coordinator, Don King, at 715-779-3700 Ext. 4286 or email@example.com to receive your survey code.
